Start By:

a. Remove the parking brake. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Parking Brake - Remove".

Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force. Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment. Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.

1. Position parking brake housing (2) with piston retainer (1) facing up.

2. Put alignment marks on piston retainer (1) and parking brake housing (2) for assembly purposes.

3. Install Tooling (A). Tighten the bolts and the nuts to a torque of 100 ± 20 N·m (75 ± 15 lb ft).

4. Remove two socket head bolts (4) from piston retainer (1) .

5. Loosen Tooling (A) evenly in order to release the spring pressure on piston retainer (1) and piston (3). When all the spring pressure is released remove Tooling (A) .

6. Remove piston retainer (1) .

7. Remove seal ring (5) and wear ring (if equipped) (6) from piston retainer (1) .

8. Remove piston (3) .

9. Remove O-ring seal (7) .

11. Remove 14 springs (9) from parking brake housing (2) .
