Fitting Needed To Install New Oil Pressure Switch When Replacing Former Switches{7485}

Usage:

All 3300 Vehicular Engines

Reference: Service Magazine; March 10, 1986; Page 8; "New Oil Pressure Switch Used With EMS Systems".

The Reference Article announced the availability of the new 7T0988 Switch and mistakenly stated that it is a direct replacement for the 9G8010 and 3T4418 Switches. The new 7T0988 Switches is not a direct replacement for the 9G8010 and 3T4418 Switches without the addition of a fitting to adapt for the different threads. The 7T0988 Switch has 1/4-18 NPTF threads and the 9G8010 and 3T4418 Switches have 1/8-27 NPTF threads. An adapter fitting will be required when replacing the 9G8010 or 3T4418 Switches with the new 7T0988 Switch.

Depending on the application, the following are a few examples of adapter fittings that may be used with the 7T0988 Switch:

4H0553 Fitting - Straight

8T9387 Tee-Reducing

9B1964 Tee-Reducing

Other fittings may also be found that satisfy specific applications. Refer to the Similar Parts List.
