9Y5885 Shorting Plug Assembly Available To Aid Troubleshooting{1550}

3508 (2JF) 3512 (4KC) 3516 (3RC) Spark-Ignited Engines

The 9Y5885 Shorting Plug Assembly is available to aid in troubleshooting engines equipped with Timing Control. The Timing Control can be made inactive by install in the shorting plug assembly in the magneto connector identified in Illustration 1.

When the shorting plug assembly is installed, the Timing Control generates a shutdown signal. To prevent the engine from being shutdown, disconnect the wire from terminal 15 on the back of the SI Engine Status Control. See Illustration 2.

NOTE: Use the 9Y5885 Shorting Plug Assembly for troubleshooting only. Continuous operation with the Timing Control deactivated can allow detonation to damage the engine.
