New Pickup Assembly In Sump Pump Group Attachment Removes More Oil From Oil Pan{1324,1302}

Usage:

3500 Family Of Engines

Description of Change: A new pickup assembly is used in the sump pump attachments. Formerly, the oil sump pump could not remove oil once the level of oil in the oil pan got below the top of the hole in the drain adapter. With the new pickup assembly, oil can be pumped until the level of oil in the sump is very near the bottom of the oil pan. This results in less used oil left in the bottom of the pan during an oil change. The used oil can reduce the effectiveness of the new oil added at the oil change.

Location of new components in typical sump pump group.

Adaptable To: The new components of the 4P7442, 4W6252, 4W6255, 7N7069, 7W9703, and 7W9704 Sump Pump Groups are identified in the illustration and chart. The new components replace the former 7N6511 Drain Adapter and 6F4868 Seal. The new components, when used together are direct replacements for the former components.

When installing the pickup assembly (4), be sure the word "Up", which is stamped on outer surface of pickup, is positioned at the top. This will insure the pickup tube is positioned correctly inside the oil pan. When pickup assembly (4) is correctly positioned, tighten nut (3) to a torque of 150 ± 15 N·m (110 ± 10 lb ft).
