Description of Change: Two new fuel injector groups have been added to the fuel injection pump groups. The new fuel injector groups have stepped nozzle cone (2) with a 90 degree external seat for improved combustion gas sealing. The taper at the bottom of the cone has been modified to include a pronounced edge for contact with the brass cylinder head sleeve.
The fuel injection pump groups also contain a new 90 durometer, teflon-coated lower O-ring (1). The new O-ring resists installation and operational damage. A higher torque is used for the bolt that holds the injector group in place [30 ± 7 N·m (22 ± 5 lb ft)].
Adaptable To: The new 9X7722 Seal is a direct replacement for the former 9X3979 Seal and is effective with 2YG7785. It is recommended that the new seal be used for all replacements. The chart shows the changes in the fuel injection pump groups. The new fuel injector groups are adaptable to first production.
