  1. Install bearing cups (46) by using Tooling (E) .

  1. Install bolts (43) into shaft assembly (42) before the shaft is installed into the bearing carrier.

  1. Position the square portion of shaft assembly (42) into a vise, as shown. Install bearing carrier (9) onto shaft assembly (42) .

  1. Install spacer (41) and shim (40) into the bearing carrier.

  1. Install bearing cone (39) .

  1. Apply clean oil to the threads of nut (38). Install lock (37) and install nut (38). Tighten nut (38) to a torque of 272 N·m (200 lb ft).

  1. Check the bearing end play by using Tooling (F), as shown. Rotate the bearing carrier for several turns in order to seat the bearing. Rotate the bearing carrier and pull upward on the bearing carrier in order to check the end play of the bearing. The bearing end play should be 0.0254 mm (.00100 inch) to 0.08 mm (.003 inch). Add or subtract shims, if necessary.

  1. Check the torque of nut (38) once the proper bearing end play is achieved. Bend the tab of lock (37) into slot of nut (38) after the proper torque is applied to nut (38) .

  1. Apply Tooling (D) to the threads of hexagonal through shaft (35). Install hexagonal through shaft (35) into the main shaft assembly, as shown.

  1. Install hexagonal rod shaft (27) into the hexagonal through shaft (35), as shown. Tighten the hexagonal rod shaft (27) to 34 N·m (25 lb ft). Install O-ring seal (36) .

  1. Install flange (33) onto bearing carrier (9) by using bolts (34).

  1. Install seal (31) into shaft guide (32) .

  1. Remove the bearing carrier and shaft assembly from the vise. Place the bearing carrier on a flat surface. Install one O-ring seal (28) and two backup rings (29) onto piston (30). Install the seal (not shown) into the inside of piston (30).

  1. Apply Tooling (D) to the threads of nut (26). Install nut (26) onto hexagonal rod shaft (27). Tighten nut (26) to a torque of 34 N·m (25 lb ft).

  1. Install O-ring seal (24) and backup ring (25) onto the plug.

  1. Install plug (23). Use Tooling (C) in order to install retaining ring (22) .

  1. Install through bearing (20). Install any shims (21). Install bolt (19). Tighten bolt (19) to a torque of 68 N·m (50 lb ft).

  1. Install O-ring seals (18) into the flange assembly.

  1. Install race (16) and bearing (17) onto shaft (15) .

  1. Install shafts (15). Install pivot blocks (14) .

  1. Install bearing (13), spacers (12), and plates (11) .

  1. Install bolts (10) .

  1. Assemble flange assembly (8) to bearing carrier (9) .

  1. Install locking tab (5) and install nut (6) by using Tooling (A). Tighten the nut to a torque of 34 N·m (25 lb ft). Bend up a tab in the lock into the slot in nut (6) after the proper torque is achieved.

  1. Install cover (4) and bolts (3) .

  1. Install drain plug (2) .

  1. Install fan blades and install bolts (1) .

  1. Fill the fan with clean oil. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Refill Capacities (Flexxaire Fan)".

End By: Install the reversible fan.
