Introduction
This Systems Operation manual details the steps for setup and the configuration of a Health Interface Module (HIM) by an authorized Cat dealer. This manual applies to the following products:
- HIM
- HIM LP GPS Option
Note: LP GPS refers to Low Precision Global Positioning System.
Overview
The main function of the HIM and the HIM LP GPS Option enables the transfer of information from the Vital Information Management System (VIMS) to a broadband radio. The data will be available for use by MineStar or other third party software that is connected to the wireless network. The HIM LP GPS Option also provides GPS data for the machine.
Refer to Systems Operation, "Component Description" for an overview of the HIM hardware.
Prerequisites
Verify that the following actions have been performed before carrying out any step in this manual:
- Ensure that the hardware for the HIM or the HIM LP GPS Option is installed on the machine.
- Ensure that at least version 1.3 HIM firmware or version 1.3 HIM GPS firmware is flashed to the Electronic Control Module (ECM).
For further details on installing the hardware, refer to Special Instruction, REHS4480, "Installation Instructions for Health Interface Module (HIM)".
For further details on flashing the ECM, refer to Special Instruction, REHS3692, "Procedure to Flash an Electronic Control Module".
Preparation
Specific tools and information are required in order to carry out the setup and the configuration of the HIM and the HIM LP GPS Option. Obtain the required tools in Table 1 and record the required information in Table 2.
Note: Caterpillar recommends sourcing these tools prior to going to the mine site. Also, Caterpillar recommends obtaining the required information from the network administrator of the mine before going to the site.
Required Tools     | |
---|---|
Item     | Acquired     |
The Systems Operation, KENR8675, "User Guide for Health Interface Module (HIM)" document     |     |
A service laptop computer with a web browser, the VIMS-PC software, and access to the Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) of the mine     |     |
An Ethernet cable for connecting the service laptop computer to the HIM or to the HIM LP GPS Option     |     |
A service cable for connecting the service laptop computer directly to VIMS     |     |
MineStar personnel (1)     |     |
( 1 ) | The person must be able to validate that MineStar can receive underscore files. Also, the person must be able to validate that MineStar can perform channel polling. |
Note: FTP refers to the File Transfer Protocol.
Required Information     | |||
---|---|---|---|
Item     | Description     | Recording of Information     | Acquired     |
Method for acquiring the Internet Protocol address (IP address) for the HIM or the HIM LP GPS Option     | This is a consultation with the network administrator for the mine in order to determine the method for acquiring the IP address for the HIM or the HIM LP GPS Option. (1)     |     |     |
Static IP address of the HIM or the HIM LP GPS Option     | The static IP address is assigned by the network administrator for the mine. (2) (3)     |     |     |
Subnet mask     | This is the subnet mask that is applicable to the static IP address. (3)     |     |     |
Gateway     | This is the gateway that is applicable to the static IP address. (3)     |     |     |
Local VIMS wireless port     | The default value for this port is 51889. This item is a Trimble Mincom Aquila Caterpillar setting (TMAC setting).     |     |     |
IP address of the TMAC server     | This item is a TMAC setting.     |     |     |
TMAC server port number     | This item is a TMAC setting.     |     |     |
FTP command port     | The default value for this port is 29. This value is an FTP setting for pull mode.     |     |     |
FTP data port of the HIM or the HIM LP GPS Option     | The default value for this port is 21000. This is an FTP setting for pull mode. (4)     |     |     |
IP address of the FTP server     | This is the IP address that will receive files that are pushed from the HIM or the HIM LP GPS Option. This value is an FTP setting for push mode.     |     |     |
Port number of the FTP server     | The default value for this port is 21. This value is an FTP setting for push mode.     |     |     |
Local data ports for the HIM or the HIM LP GPS Option     | These ports are used for individual file transfer connections. The default value is zero. This value is an FTP setting for push mode. (5)     |     |     |
Username for the FTP server     | The username is for logging into the FTP server. This value is an FTP setting for push mode.     |     |     |
Password to the FTP server     | The password is for logging into the FTP server. This value is an FTP setting for push mode.     |     |     |
Directory for file upload     | This is the upload directory that will store files that are uploaded. The default directory is "/uploads". This value is an FTP setting for push mode.     |     |     |
Geo transformation file     | This is a text file that should be stored on the service laptop computer after being acquired from the mine. The Geo transformation file only applies to the HIM LP GPS Option.     |     |     |
( 1 ) | The IP address can be static or the IP address can be automatically assigned by the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP). The default setting is DHCP. |
( 2 ) | The static IP address needs to be in a list on the Radio Interface Module server (RIM server). Otherwise, the HIM LP GPS option will not receive GPS corrections. |
( 3 ) | If the IP address was assigned by DHCP, then this value is not required. |
( 4 ) | Only the default value of the FTP data port is usually required. If the firewall restrictions between the office and the HIM or the HIM LP GPS Option are extreme, obtain a different setting from the network administrator of the mine. |
( 5 ) | The local data ports for the HIM or the HIM LP GPS Option are not usually required. If the firewall restrictions are extreme between the office and the HIM or between the office and the HIM LP GPS Option, obtain the required ports from the network administrator of the mine. |
Note: An FTP server is required in the mine office in order for the HIM to push data files to the office. Setting up an FTP server will require the assistance of the network administrator of the mine.
Note: Ensure that all specified ports in Table 2 have been enabled in the radio infrastructure.
For further descriptions of the required information that is listed in Table 2, refer to Systems Operation, KENR8675, "User Guide for Health Interface Module (HIM)".
