当发动机起动钥匙旋转到 START 位置时，中继阀 (1) 接收信号压力。
当发动机起动钥匙旋转到 START 位置时，电磁阀 (2) 开启。 开式电磁阀 (2) 使得高压空气从储气罐流向空气起动马达的驱动小齿轮。 驱动小齿轮将空气起动马达与发动机飞轮接合。 加压气体通过主动小齿轮送往中继阀 (1) 。 空气压力送往中继阀 (1) 的控制气道。 送往中继阀 (1) 控制油路的空气使得空气从主储气罐流经中继阀 (1) 。
开式中继阀 (1) 使得大量高压空气从储气罐流向空气起动马达。 空气起动马达旋转。 空气起动马达转动发动机，使发动机开始工作。
