当发动机起动钥匙旋转到 START 位置时，电磁阀 (2) 开启。 开式电磁阀 (2) 使得气压从储气罐流向空气起动马达 (3) 的驱动小齿轮 (4) 。 驱动小齿轮 (4) 将空气起动马达 (3) 与发动机飞轮接合。 加压气体通过主动小齿轮 (4) 送往中继阀 (1) 。
加压气体打开中继阀 (1) 。 开式中继阀 (1) 使得大量高压空气从储气罐流向空气起动马达 (3) 。 空气起动马达 (3) 旋转。 空气起动马达 (3) 转动发动机，使发动机开始工作。
