NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to the radiator, the refrigerant condenser, the hydraulic oil cooler, and transmission oil cooler (22). The combined weight of the radiator, the refrigerant condenser, the hydraulic oil cooler, and transmission oil cooler (22) is approximately 68 kg (150 lb). Use Tooling (A) and the suitable lifting device in order to position the radiator, the refrigerant condenser, the hydraulic oil cooler, and transmission oil cooler (22) slightly above the final position on the machine.

  1. Position shroud (23) .

  1. Install lower radiator hose (1) .

  1. Install hose (31) .

  1. Position expansion tank (29) and install bolts (30). Tighten bolts (30) to a torque of 15 ± 3 N·m (11 ± 2 lb ft).

  1. Connect hose (31) .

  1. Connect hose (28). Tighten the clamp that secures hose (28) to expansion tank (29) to a torque of 1.5 ± 0.2 N·m (13.3 ± 1.8 lb in).

  1. Use Tooling (A) and the suitable lifting device in order to lower the radiator, the refrigerant condenser, the hydraulic oil cooler, and transmission oil cooler (22) into position.

  1. Position bracket (26). Install bolts (27) and (25). Repeat this step for the opposite side.

  1. Install three bolts (24) (not shown) in order to secure shroud (23). Tighten bolts (24) to a torque of 18 ± 2 N·m (13 ± 1 lb ft). Repeat this step for the opposite side.

  1. Remove Tooling (A) and the suitable lifting device.

  1. Connect hoses (14) and tighten clamps (13) .

  1. Connect clips (11) .

  1. Connect hose assemblies (12) .

  1. Connect harness assembly (15) and the attaching hardware.

  1. Connect hoses (18) and clips (19) .

  1. Position guard assembly (20). Install bolts (21) and (16) .

  1. Install bracket (17) and bracket (10) .

  1. Install hose (9) and tighten clamp (8) .

  1. Position grill (5) and mounts (6). Install bolts (4) .

  1. Connect hose (3) and tighten clamp (2) .

  1. Connect lower radiator hose (1) .

  1. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (DEAC) - Change" or Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Extended Life Coolant - Change" for the proper filling procedure.

  1. Fill the hydraulic tank. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Capacities - Refill" for the capacity of the hydraulic tank. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic System Oil - Change".

  1. Charge the air conditioner refrigerant from the air conditioner system. Refer to Service Manual, SENR5664, "Air Conditioning and Heating Systems with R-134a Refrigerant" for the correct procedure. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Air Conditioning Tools" for the correct tools.

End By:

  1. Install the fan. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fan - Remove and Install".
  2. Install the hood. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hood - Remove and Install".
