Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.

  1. Use a soft hammer and install bearing (60) in housing (51). Install retaining ring (59) in housing (51) .

  1. Install lip seal (58) in housing (51) .

  1. Install coupling shaft (46) to input shaft (54) and install bolt (55) .

  1. Place input shaft (54) in a suitable press and install bearing (57) .

  1. Use Tooling (C) and install retaining ring (56) on coupling shaft (46) .

  1. Place housing (51) in a suitable press and install input shaft (54) in the housing.

  1. Install housing (51) to the case. Apply Tooling (D) to nuts (50). Install the nuts and tighten the nuts to a torque of 68 ± 7 N·m (50 ± 5 lb ft).

  1. Apply Tooling (D) to bolts (52). Install the gasket, cover (53), and bolts (52). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 54 ± 7 N·m (40 ± 5 lb ft).

  1. Apply Tooling (D) to bolts (48). Install the gasket, cover (49), and bolts (48). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 54 ± 7 N·m (40 ± 5 lb ft).

  1. Install drive gear (47) on coupling shaft (46). Use Tooling (C) and install retaining ring (45) .

  1. Place shaft (39) in a suitable press. Install bearing (44), spacer (43), and bearing (42) to shaft (39) .

  1. Use a soft hammer and install reduction gear (19) to shaft (39) .

  1. Install retaining ring (41) .

  1. Install spacer (40) to shaft (40) .

  1. If necessary, install the bearing cup in both sides of rear plate (4). Use a soft hammer and install shaft assembly (37) in rear plate (4). Use a soft hammer and install bearing cone (38) on shaft assembly (37) .

  1. Install lip seal (36) in housing (34) .

  1. Apply Tooling (D) to bolts (33). Install gasket (35), housing (34), and bolts (33). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 54 ± 7 N·m (40 ± 5 lb ft).

  1. Install sensor (30) and the bolt.

  1. Use a soft bearing and install bearing (31) and bearing (32) .

  1. Install cover (25), bolts (24), cover (23), and bolts (22) .

  1. Install bearing (17) on countershaft (18) .

  1. Install bearing (20) on countershaft (21) .

  1. Use a soft hammer and install countershaft (18) and countershaft (21) .

  1. Remove bolts (22), cover (23), bolts (24), and cover (25) .

  1. Use Tooling (C) and install retaining ring (29) on countershaft (18) .

  1. Use Tooling (C) and install retaining ring (28) on countershaft (21) .

  1. Install gasket (27) and gasket (26) .

  1. Apply Tooling (D) to bolts (22) and bolts (24). Install the gasket, cover (25), bolts (24), the gasket, cover (23), and bolts (22). Tighten bolts (24) and bolts (22) to a torque of 54 ± 7 N·m (40 ± 5 lb ft).

  1. Apply Tooling (D) to bolts (15). Install gasket (16), shift housing (10), and bolts (15). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 54 ± 7 N·m (40 ± 5 lb ft).

  1. Install shift fork (8) and sliding clutch (13) to output shaft (14) .

    ------ WARNING! ------

    Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force.

    Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.

    Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.

  1. Install ball (12), spring (11), and shift bar (1) into shift housing (10) .

  1. Install spacer (9) .

  1. Install bolt (6) in shift fork (8). Install lockwire (7) .

  1. Install the gasket on rear plate (4). Attach Tooling (A) to rear plate (4) and install rear plate (4) on the dowels. Remove Tooling (A) .

  1. Connect rear plate (4) to case (5). Apply Tooling (D) to 19 bolts (3) and install bolts (3). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 54 ± 7 N·m (40 ± 5 lb ft).

  1. Install rod end (2) to shift bar (1) and tighten the jam nut.

End By: Install the rotor transmission. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Rotor Transmission - Install".
