Disassembly Procedure

Start By:

1. Remove the rotor transmission. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Rotor Transmission - Remove".

Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.

1. Loosen the jam nut and remove rod end (2) from shift bar (1) .

2. Remove 19 bolts (3) that hold rear plate (4) to case (5) .

3. Install three bolts (3) into the threaded holes on rear plate (4), as shown. Separate rear plate (4) from case (5) .

4. Attach Tooling (A) to rear plate (4) and remove the rear plate. The weight of the rear plate is approximately 95 kg (210 lb). Remove the gasket from the rear plate.

5. Cut and remove lockwire (7). Remove bolt (6) from shift bar (8) .

6. Remove spacer (9) .

Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force. Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment. Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.

7. Place a clean rag over the opening of shift housing (10). Remove shift bar (1), spring (11), and ball (12) from the shift housing.

8. Remove shift fork (8) and sliding clutch (13) from output shaft (14) .

9. Remove bolts (15), shift housing (10), and gasket (16) .

10. Mark countershaft (18), reduction gear (19), and countershaft (21) for installation purposes.

11. Use Tooling (B) and remove bearing (20) from countershaft (21) .

12. Repeat Step 11 in order to remove bearing (17) from countershaft (18) .

13. Remove bolts (22), cover (23), bolts (24), and cover (25) .

14. Remove gasket (26) and gasket (27) .

15. Use Tooling (C) and remove retaining ring (28) from countershaft (21) .

16. Use Tooling (C) and remove retaining ring (29) from countershaft (18) .

17. Use a soft bar and a hammer and remove countershaft (18) and countershaft (21) .

18. Remove the bolt and sensor (30) .

32. Use Tooling (C) and remove retaining ring (56) from coupling shaft (46) .

33. Place input shaft (54) in a suitable press and remove bearing (57) .

34. Remove bolt (55) and remove coupling shaft (46) from input shaft (54) .

35. Remove lip seal (58) from housing (51) .

36. Remove retaining ring (59) from housing (51). Use a soft hammer and remove bearing (60) from housing (51) .
