Introduction

This Special instruction contains the information that is needed to install the additional parts that are required for early machines before installing the 226-7372 Stabilizer Conversion Kit (Access Platform) or the 226-7373 Stabilizer Conversion Kit (Access Platform) .

Before performing the installation that is outlined in this Special Instruction, ensure that you understand the information that is contained in the Special Instruction.

These additional parts must be installed onto early machines in order to increase the size or the oil lines before the installation of either of the Stabilizer Conversion Kits. Refer to Special Instruction, REHS2327, "Installation of the Stabilizer Conversion Kit (Access Platform)". The additional parts can be ordered through the Caterpillar parts system. Refer to table 1 for the parts for identification.

------ WARNING! ------

Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.

Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.

Make sure all of the work tools have been lowered to the ground, and the oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.

NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Install Tooling (A) under the boom. Fully retract the boom and lower the boom onto the tooling. Engage the parking brake and stop the engine.

  1. Turn the engine start switch to the ON position after the engine stops. Move the control levers for the implements repeatedly through the full range of travel. This will relieve any pressure that may be present in the implement hydraulic system. Turn the engine start switch to the OFF position.

  1. Depress the brake pedal repeatedly. This will relieve any pressure that may be present in the brake system.

  1. Remove the hydraulic tank filler cap slowly in order to relieve the tank pressure. After all the pressure has been released tighten the filler cap on the hydraulic tank.

Note: Hydraulic cylinders and lock valves may contain internal pressure. Refer to specific instructions for each hydraulic component before performing any work on each hydraulic components.

  1. Remove tee (10) with cap (13) from tube (2). Remove tee (10) with cap (13) from tube (5) .

Note: If the machine has a cylinder for the axle lock, the hoses that are connected to tees (10) will need disconnecting prior to the removal of the tees. Caps (13) will not be installed.

  1. Remove bolt (14), washer (11), clamp (7) and clamp (6) from the rear of the chassis.

  1. Disconnect tube (2) from tube (1) and remove tube (1) with O-ring seal (12). Disconnect tube (5) from tube (4) and remove tube (4) with O-ring seal (12) .

  1. Remove tee (9) with cap (13) from tube (1). Remove tee (9) with cap (13) from tube (4) .

Note: If the machine has a cylinder for the frame level, the hoses that are connected to the side of tees (9) will need disconnecting prior to the removal of the tees. Caps (13) will not be installed.

  1. Remove three bolts (14), three washers (11), three clamps (7), three clamps (6), tube (4) and tube (1) from the chassis.
