Usage:
Start By:
a. separate fuel injection pump housing and governor
FLUID SPILLAGE CONTAINMENT
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to "TOOLS AND SHOP PRODUCT GUIDE, NENG2500", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
1. Remove shaft (2) from carrier (3).
2. Remove dowel (1) from shaft (2).
3. Remove weights (4) from carrier (3) by removing dowels (5).
4. Remove ring (10) from thrust collar (6).
5. Remove race (9), bearing (8), and race (7) from thrust collar (6).
6. Remove two bolts (12). Slide shaft (13) out of the governor housing and remove lever (14) and washers (11) between the lever and the housing.
7. Remove seal (15).
NOTE: The following steps are for assembly of the governor.
8. Use Tooling (A) to install seal (15) in the governor housing with the lip of the seal toward the inside of the housing.
9. Put lever (14) in position in the governor housing with a washer (11) between the lever and the housing at each side.
10. Slide shaft (13) into position and install two bolts (12).
11. Install race (7), bearing (8), race (9), and ring (10) on thrust collar (6).
12. Install weights (4) on carrier (3) with dowels (5).
13. Install dowel (1) in shaft (2).
14. Install shaft (2).
