Installation Procedure

Accidental machine starting can cause injury or death to personnel working on the machine. To avoid accidental machine starting, turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position and remove the key. If the machine is not equipped with a battery disconnect switch, disconnect the battery cables from the battery and tape the battery clamps. Place a do not operate tag at the battery disconnect switch location to inform personnel that the machine is being worked on.

1. Use a hoist and a suitable lifting device to place accumulator arm (1) into felling head. The weight of accumulator arm (1) is 82 kg (180 lb).

2. Install pivot pin (5) into accumulator arm (1). The weight of pivot pin (5) is 13 kg (29 lb).

3. Install bolt (6) and the nut into pivot pin (5).

   Tighten the locknut until the clearance between arm hub (8) and frame hub (9) is 1 ± .5 mm (.04 ± .02 inch).

4. Remove the lifting device and the hoist from accumulator arm (1) .

5. Install accumulator arm cylinder (3) into accumulator arm (1).

6. Install pivot pin (2) into accumulator arm cylinder (3).

7. Install bolt (4) and the nut into pivot pin (2).

8. Lubricate the accumulator arm prior to operating the felling head. For more information about lubrication of the accumulator arm, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Bearing for Accumulator Arm - Lubricate" for the machine that is being serviced.

End By: Ensure that the accumulator arm functions properly by operating the accumulator arm several times. Ensure that there is no binding at the pivot pins.
