Assembly Procedure

Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, thoroughly clean all parts in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Do not use wiping cloths or rags to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause trouble. Inspect all parts. If parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement. Dirt and other contaminants can damage the precision component. Perform assembly procedures on a clean work surface. Keep components covered and protected at all times.

Note: Check the seals, seal retainers, O-ring seals and backup rings for wear or for damage. Replace the components, if necessary.

Note: Steps 1 through 7 are for the assembly of the vibratory pump.

1. Install the seal, seal retainer (29 ) , and seal (28) on end cover (27) .

2. Install housing (23) and wear plate (26) on end cover (27) .

3. Install gear assemblies (25) in housing (23) .

4. Install wear plate (24) on housing (23) .

5. Install seal (22) , seal retainer (21) , and seal (20) on the mounting flange.

6. Install O-ring seal (19) on mounting flange (17) . Install lip seal (18) on the mounting flange, if the seal was previously removed.

7. Apply Tooling (A) to shaft splines. Position mounting flange (17) on the housing. Install eight nuts (16) and six bolts (15) which hold the vibratory pump together.

Note: Steps 8 through 11 are for the assembly of the steering pump.

8. Install seal (14) and seal retainer (13) in gear carrier (12) for each end of the gear assembly. Install the gear carriers on the gear assembly.

9. Install seal (10) and O-ring seal (11) on housing (6) .

10. Install O-ring seal (8) and backup ring (9) on relief valve (7) .

11. Install the seal on the end cap (4) . Install relief valve (7) , gear assembly (5) , and end cap (4) on housing (6) .

12. Position steering pump (2) on vibratory pump (1) . Install bolts (3) .

13. Remove Tooling (A) from the shaft splines.

End By: Install the vibratory and steering pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly , "Gear Pump (Steering and Vibratory) - Install".
