Usage:
TELESCOPIC MATERIAL HANDLERS
TH63 (5WM1-1351, 3NN1-718),TH82 (3JN1-552, 3KN1-434),
T83 (3RN1-909) TELEHANDLERS;
RT80 (1GJ),
RT100 (1GJ) TELESCOPIC MATERIAL HANDLERS
Problem:
The implementation of Service Letter PI3136 may produce questions. The repair kits required to complete the Service Letter may have missing parts.
Solution:
Reference: Service Letter PI3136 Reference: SEPDO407, Service Magazine, March 3, 1998, page "Telehandler Axles and Final Drives."
- 1. Purpose: The intent of Service Letter PI3136 was to complete the remaining axles on Telehandlers and Telescopic material Handlers that were not completed under Service Letters PS5298 and PS5317. Machines with axles completed under these cancelled service letters may have mistakenly appeared on PI3136. If this has occurred, please make the appropriate SIMS entry to correct these erronous entries.
- 2. Definition: In both the Service Letter and Service Magazine article the definition of oscillating axle refers to a frame leveling axle.
- 3. Labor Claims: Service Letter PI3136 allows 7.0 hours of labor per axle.
NOTE: If the 1494096/">149-4096 Update Kit is required, 2.0 hours of additional labor per axle may also be claimed.

TELESCOPIC HANDLERS
SUBJECT: REDUCE THE CONFUSION OVER PI3136
DESCRIPTION OF CHANGE: There has been a lot of confusion regarding the implementation of P13136. P13136 was issued to all the machines that not been completed under PS5298 and PS5317.
ELIGIBLE MACHINES
P13136 was issued as a replacement for PS5298 and PS5317. The effective serial numbers in P13136 were "manually captured" prior to its release. There were three sets of effective serial numbers:
- Group 1. These machines require that both axles be updated.
- Group 2. These machines require that only the front axle be updated.
- Group 3. These machines require that only the rear axle be updated.
- Group 2. These machines require that only the front axle be updated.
It is possible that a machine was updated as one of the three groups prior to the release of P13136 and its serial number appears on P13136 because there was a lag between the drafting of P13136 and its publication. If you find such a machine, please make a SIMS entry so that it is recorded as complete.
PARTS REQUIRED
- RT100 front and rear axles require (1) 1462990 kit per axle
- TH63, TH82 and TH83 rear axles and TH82 fixed front axle require (1) 1462991 kit per axle
- TH63, TH83, TH82 (oscillatingame level) front axles and RT80 front and rear axle require (1) 1473211 kit per axle
The 1494096 kit is required for machines that fall in these ranges:
It is also possible to determine if the 1494096 kit is required by checking the axle serial number. Axles with the following serial numbers and higher do not require the 1494096 kit.
- Front oscillating axle (frame level) - SITA 507458
- Rear axle - SITA 507458
- Front fixed axle - SITA 524734
- Rear axle - SITA 507458
NOTE: "s" in the SITA prefix refers to the year the axle was built. Therefore a RITA 507458 is an earlier axle and would require the 1494096 kit. Whereas a TITA 507458 is a later axle and would not Require the 1494096 kit.
Another method to determine if the 1494096 kit is required is to count the number of splines on the outboard end of the 814334 shaft. If there are 19 splines the 1494096 kit is required. If there are 12 splines the 1494096 kit is not required.
Reports have been received that some kits are missing parts. Random inspections have found this to be true. But rather than delay the program it was decided to continue to provide the kits and instruct dealers to file a parts discrepancy for the missing parts. The parts are:
It is suggested that dealers stock a few of the above part numbers in their parts department and inspect the axle kits before use.
Other parts such as seals or bearings that are damaged during disassembly or because of after failure contingent damage should be claimed. Please provide an explanation in the story portion of the claim.
LABOR
P13136 allows 7.0 hours labor per axle, if the 1494096 update kit is required an additional two hours of labor per axle can be claimed. Additional parts and labor can be claimed for parts that had to be destroyed during disassembly. Plus any parts and labor that were required because of contingent damage caused by failure may also be claimed.
