The air quality in the receiver tank where the air impingement air supply is stored should meet the following criteria:
-
- 1. Air should be filtered to 0.1 micron solid particle size.
- 2. Oil in the air to be filtered to 0.01 parts per million (ppm).
- 3. No droplets of water in the air impingement lines.
- 4. The relative humidity of the air should be below 50 percent.
- 1. Air should be filtered to 0.1 micron solid particle size.
The above level of air cleanliness should be achieved with the use of dryer and coalescing filters before the air receiver tank. In addition, a 50 micron air filter will need to be fitted prior to the turbocharger to prevent potential debris (weld splatter, rust, etc) from entering the turbocharger.
The air pressure regulator after the 50 micron filter should be adjusted to provide a maximum total pressure of 700 kPa (102 psi) absolute, [600 kPa (87 psi) gauge] at the inlet to the compressor.
3606 and 3612 Engines with 4P-5803 or 129-6383 Turbocharger Groups are equipped with an air impingement system. 3608 and 3616 Engines with 9Y-6106, 101-9983, or 105-4198 Turbocharger Groups are equipped with an air impingement system.
