G3516 (8LD, 4EK) Engines
The ignition bulkhead connector (1), where the primary ignition connects to the internal ignition system through the front service cover, has been reoriented on new and service repair wiring harnesses so that the wiring harness (2) is pointed downward (see Illustration 1). Formerly, the connector (1) was positioned so that the wiring harness (2) was pointed upward (see Illustration 2). When the wiring harness was pointed upward, moisture could become trapped in the connector and seep through the potting compound. This could cause an electrical short circuit of the primary ignition. The new connector orientation will help prevent moisture from collecting in the connector.
