Improvement To Reduce Incidence Of 190-02 Diagnostic Code On Electronic Modular Control Panel II (EMCP II) Or Electronic Modular Control Panel II+ Equipped Generator Sets{4490}

Usage:

All Generator Sets Equipped With EMCP II or EMCP II+

Generator Sets that experience intermittent CID 190 FMI 02 fault codes may be experiencing electrical noise associated with the engine magnetic pickup (speed sensor). The speed sensor (mounted on the flywheel housing of the engine) utilizes a two conductor shielded cable to connect to the 40 pin connector of the genset control. This cable's shield electrical ground is normally connected to the case ground of the genset control panel. Moving this ground from the case to the -B terminal post of the generator set control may reduce the incidence of false or intermittent fault codes by improving immunity to electrical noise. This sensor input is not to be spliced to any other control system inputs. The two conductor shielded cable from the speed sensor should always be grounded at the genset control panel end of the cable.
