Folded Core Radiators Used In Cooling Systems{1353,1350,1351}

Usage:

768C Tractors;
769C Trucks

Reference: Additional information about troubleshooting, cleaning and assembly of folded core radiators is available in the November 19, 1984 issue of Service Magazine.

Description of Change: Folded core radiators are now used in the cooling systems of the above machines. These radiators are made of a series of individual modules (cores) arranged between a top and bottom tank, like the pleats in an oil filter element. See Illustrations 1 and 2. Each core is individually replaceable and is mounted in the top and bottom tanks with a rubber seal. The rubber seals decrease the amount of stress and vibrations transmitted to the core assemblies.

Folded core radiators are designed to be self cleaning. In most applications, the trash will roll, in the direction of fan air flow, along the core faces to the trash gap where it is expelled.

Adaptable As: The folded core radiators are in effect as shown in Chart A. Chart B gives the part numbers of the folded core radiator groups and core assemblies.

The seals at the top and bottom of each core assembly must be replaced each time the core is removed. One 8N7139 Seal is used for one end of each core assembly and one 8N5130 Seal is used for the other end of each core assembly. Lubricate the sealing areas of the seals with liquid soap at assembly.
