Usage:
120G Motor Graders
Description of Change: The covers and tandem group used on 120G Motor Graders has been changed. Formerly, the tandem housings used studs and nuts to fasten the final drive and the brake and wheel spindle housings together. Now bolts are used.
Adaptable As: The new 8W452 and 8W453 Housing Assemblies are direct replacements for the former 6G579 and 6G580 Housing Assemblies used in the 8D8830 Covers and Tandem Groups on 120G Motor Graders. The new housing assemblies are in effect with 87V7403 and 11W1187; and are adaptable to earlier machines. When the new housing assemblies are installed, the new bolts and washers, listed in the chart, must also be used.
NOTE: Put a thin coat of 5P3413 Pipe Sealant on the new bolts before they are installed in the new housing assemblies.
The former housing assemblies can be reworked. Remove the studs which have taper threads. Tap the holes, where the studs were installed, to fit the new bolts.
