Some 3P8990 Back-Up Alarm Switch Assemblies on "G" Series Motor Graders have been replaced only because they were not adjusted correctly. Before replacing a back-up alarm switch, it is important to make sure the switch is installed correctly. See the illustration.


Correct magnet depth.

The 8D5601 Magnet Assembly must be installed to the dimension shown relative to the 3P8990 Back-Up Alarm Switch when the transmission control lever is in reverse.
