Usage:
769C Trucks ( 1X)
Description of Change: A new radiator core assembly is used on 769C Trucks. The new core assembly, which is part of the basic radiator group, has a full-frame reinforcement plate at the top of the core assembly. The reinforcement plate is soldered to the outer tubes and to the top header. This type of installation permits the one-piece plate to take some of the stress caused by heat expansion of the tubes. For this reason, it increases the strength of the core assembly for a longer service life.
Formerly, a core assembly which had two small end plates was used. These plates did not give the reinforcement strength that the full-frame plate gives in the new core assembly.
Adaptable As: The new 1W1170 Radiator Core Assembly is in effect with Serial No. 1X2275. It is a direct replacement for the former 7N4078 Radiator Core Assembly which is canceled.
NOTICE |
---|
Do not install eyebolts or any other hardware in the 11.2 mm (.44") or 12.7 mm (.50") diameter hole in the top header and lift the core assembly. The top header is 1.63 mm (.064") thick. It is not strong enough to hold the weight of the core assembly, and damage to the core assembly is possible. To lift the core assembly, fasten the hoist to 4.11 mm (.162") thick header at the bottom of the core assembly. This will prevent damage to the core assembly.
