NOTICE |
---|
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose of fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
Personal injury can result from hot oil or hot components. At operating temperature, oil is hot and under pressure. Hot oil can cause burns. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. Do not allow hot oil or components to touch skin. |
NOTE: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, all hoses and all tubes. This will help prevent fluid loss and this will help to prevent contaminants from entering the system.
1. Drain the oil from the hydraulic tank into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual for the machine that is being serviced. The hydraulic tank capacity is 125 L (33 US gal).
2. Loosen two clamps (1) from tube assembly (2). Remove four bolts (3) and the washers from tube assembly (2). Remove the tube assembly from steering, brake and pilot pump (4).
3. Disconnect hose assemblies (5) and (6) from the pump.
4. Remove two bolts (7) and the washers that hold pump bracket (8) (if equipped) to the steering, brake and pilot pump.
5. Install Tooling (A) on steering, brake and pilot pump (4), as shown. Attach a hoist and a suitable lifting chain to Tooling (A).
6. Remove two bolts (9) and the washers that hold the pump to the torque converter updrive gearbox. Remove the steering, brake and pilot pump. The weight of the steering, brake and pilot pump is 54 kg (119 lb).
7. Remove check valve (11) from adapter (10). Remove the O-ring seal from check valve (11).
8. Remove four bolts (12) that hold adapter (10) to steering, brake and pilot pump (4). Remove the O-ring seal from adapter (10).
9. Remove O-ring seal (13) from pump (4).
