Disassembly Procedure

Start By:
- Remove the torque converter. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Torque Converter - Remove".
- Remove the torque converter outlet relief valve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Torque Converter Outlet Relief Valve - Remove".
- Remove bolt (1) and retainer (2) .

- Remove yoke (4) and O-ring seal (3) from the shaft.
- Remove sensor (5) from the carrier.

- Remove bolts (6) from the housing.

- Install Tooling (C) and a suitable lifting device to the housing. Remove housing (7) from torque converter assembly (8). The weight of the housing is approximately 57 kg (125 lb).
- Use Tooling (D) in order to remove rings (9) and (10) from the shafts.

- Remove both drive gear assemblies (11A) from bearing (11) and housing (7) by using a press.
- Remove retaining rings (12) from each bearing (11). Remove the bearings from the housing.

- Remove bolts (13) from torque converter assembly (8) .

- Install Tooling (F) in holes (14). Tighten evenly in order to separate impeller (16) from housing (15) .
- Turn over housing (15). Remove retaining ring (17) and cover (18) .

- Remove O-ring seals (19) .
- Turn over housing (15) and remove retaining ring (20) .

- Press shaft (21) from housing (8). Remove turbine (15A) .
- Remove retaining ring (22) from the splined shaft.

- Remove the splined shaft from bearing (23) by using a press.

- Remove bolts (24) and remove stator assembly (25) from impeller (16) .

- Use Tooling (A) in order to remove retaining ring (27). Remove impeller (16) from carrier assembly (26) .

- Remove bolts (28) and remove gear (29) from impeller (16) .

- Remove bearing (30) from impeller (16) .
- Remove pins (31) from carrier (32) .

- Remove seal ring (33) .
- Remove retaining ring (34) from inside carrier (32) by using Tooling (A) .

- Remove shaft (36) and bearing (35) from the carrier.
- Remove shaft (36) from bearing (35) by using a press.

- Remove seal ring (37) from shaft (36) .
