Start By:
- Remove the torque converter outlet relief valve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Torque Converter Outlet Relief Valve - Remove".
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before you begin the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the components should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism. Precision components can be damaged by contaminants or by dirt. Perform disassembly procedures on a clean work surface. Keep components covered and protected at all times.
- Remove O-ring seals (2) from valve (1).

Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.
Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.
- Remove bolts and flange assembly (5) from body (2).
- Remove bolts and covers (3) and (7). Remove O-ring seals (4) and (6).
- Remove spring (9) and spool assembly (8).

Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.
- Remove retainer ring (10), retainer (12), spring (11), and poppet (13) from spool assembly (8).
- Remove spacers (14) from the inside of spool assembly (8).
