This Special Instruction provides the necessary guidelines for updating the software for CABSWin and for reinstalling the SIS Software for the harvester heads.

This update is intended for existing CABSWin operating systems. This update contains improvements for the CABSWin program as well as the CABSWin computer operating system.

Do not perform any procedure that is outlined in this publication until you understand the information that is contained in the document.

Note: If the CABSWin operating system requires an upgrade, you will only need the files that are found in Table 2.

Note: If you obtain all of the flash files from SIS Web, you can create a CD of all of the files. You may also use a memory card in order to store the files. You may also use a memory card in order to transport the files to the CABSWin operating system. The 204-0785 Boot Disk software must be loaded onto a 1.44 MB floppy disk prior to starting the upgrade. 204-0785 Boot Disk is not available from SIS Web. This must be ordered.

Preparation of the Machine

Park on a level surface. If you must park on a grade, block the wheels.

Release the accelerator. The machine will stop automatically. Lower the machine to the lowest possible level.

Rotate the cab to the right. Align the cab door with the steps on the front of the machine.

Lower the harvester head to the ground, as shown. The harvester head should be in a vertical position in order to prevent any oil from contaminating the feed rollers. The delimbing knives, the holding arms, and the feed roller arms should be open.

CABSWin Upgrade Preparation

Note: This step is required if you need to only upgrade the CABSWin system. If you must completely reinstall the CABSWin software, proceed to the section that is entitled ""CABSWin Reinstall" ".

Note: Obtain an update kit prior to starting the procedure. See Tables 1 and 2 for the parts that are required for the procedure.

  1. Open Windows® Explorer. Open the CABSWin folder. Find the folders "User" and "Sys" and save the folders to the "(E:)" drive in order to retain your settings for the machine.

    Note: It is very important to save the "User" folder and the "Sys" folder to the "E" drive. If the "User" folder and the "Sys" folder is not saved to the "E" drive, ALL of the "User" settings and the "Sys" settings will be lost.

  1. Locate the "User" folder and the "Sys" folder that is in the "Dasa" folder.

  1. Highlight the "User" folder and the "Sys" folder. Right click on the "User" folder and the "Sys" folder.

  1. Click on "Copy".

  1. Open the "Backup" drive (7). Right click inside "Contents of Backup (E:)" window (5) .

  1. Click on "Paste" (6). This will place the "User" folder (2) and the "Sys" folder into the "Backup (E:)" disk drive (7) .

  1. Shut down the computer.

    Location of the Battery Disconnect Switch

  1. Turn the battery disconnect switch on the machine to the OFF position. The battery disconnect switch is located at the back of the machine on the left side. This will completely shut down the computer.

CABSWin Reinstallation Preparation

    Note: Only perform this portion of the Special Instruction if you must completely reinstall the CABSWin operating system. This portion of the Special Instruction is not required for an upgrade. If you only need to upgrade the CABSWin operating system, skip to ""Installing the Software Upgrade for CABSWin" ".

    Note: Perform the following steps prior to starting the CABSWin computer.

    Note: Before you begin the software upgrade, make sure that your 204-0786 CD Reader has a fully charged battery.

    Note: The CD-ROM reader card must be installed into the lower expansion slot. Each expansion slot provides two connection spaces. The card must be installed into the back slot that is on the expansion slot.

  1. Insert the CD-ROM reader card (8) into CABSWin control unit (10) .

  1. Place boot disk (12) into the floppy disk drive. The floppy disk drive is located on the left side of the CABSWin control unit.

  1. Start the CABSWin computer.

    A language selection screen will appear on the monitor.

  1. Place the CD-ROM (4) with the proper language into the CD-ROM drive (2).

    Use 215-4144 Software Installation for the following languages: Swedish, Finnish and Norwegian.

    Use 215-4145 Software Installation for the following languages: English, German and French.

  1. Type the value for the selected language.

  1. Press "ENTER"

  1. The installation will begin.

    (19) "Proceed with partition load?". (20) "Destination partition will be permanently overwritten". (21) "Yes". (22) "No".

  1. A box will appear after about one minute.

    Note: You have one final opportunity to change your decision. When you click "YES", all old files on the "C" partition on the hard drive will be deleted.

  1. Click "YES". This will continue the installation.

  1. Windows® 95 is now loading onto the computer. A progress indicator will show the amount of software that has been installed.

  1. When the installation is complete, a box will appear. The instructions will ask if you want to restart your computer.

  1. Remove the floppy disk from the computer. Remove the CD-ROM from the CD-ROM drive.

  1. Click "Reset Computer" (25). The computer will restart.

Touch Screen Calibration

The touch screen only needs to be calibrated once.

  1. Double click on the "Tcalib 32.exe" icon in order to start the calibration program. The following screen will appear.

  1. Click "Calibrate" in order to begin the screen calibration procedure. The following screen will appear.

  1. At the left edge of the screen a message will appear that will prompt you to "Press Here". Use a pointer in order to touch the screen exactly on the solid line. Touch the screen as close to the edge of the screen as possible. You must repeat this process at each side of the screen. When you finish the calibration, you will be returned to the touchscreen calibration menu screen.

  1. Press "Exit" in order to finish the calibration process. The touchscreen calibration is complete.

  1. Repeat the procedure four times on each edge of the screen. After the screen has been calibrated, the following window will appear.

CABSWin D4 Basic Installation Procedure

Note: In order to perform the following updates, you must download the required "D4 Basic" and "D4 Machine" files from SIS Web. These files may be copied to either a memory card or a CD. However, it is strongly recommended that a memory card be used for this portion of the upgrade process.

  1. Insert the memory card into the CABSWin computer. There are a total of four slots. You must insert the memory card into the lower expansion slot. Each expansion slot provides two connection spaces. The card must be installed into the back slot that is on the expansion slot. The following screen will appear.

  1. Ensure that the "F:" drive (1) is open. You will find the two files that you copied to the memory card prior to inserting the memory card into the "F:" slot.

  1. Open Windows® Explorer by pressing the "Windows" symbol key and the "E" key at the same time.

  1. Select both files and highlight both files.

    (4) "Copy".

  1. Right click on the highlighted files. Select "Copy" (4) from the popup menu.

  1. From Windows® Explorer, open the "Backup (E:)" drive.

  1. Right click in the folder box. Select "Paste" (5) from the popup menu. This will move the two files into the "Backup (E:)" drive.

    Note: You will perform the upgrade process from this location.

  1. Open Windows® Explorer by pressing the "Windows" symbol key and the "E" key at the same time. Double click on the file that is labeled "D4ba1c.exe". The following screen will appear.

  1. Ensure that both boxes are checked. Click "Next". The following screen will appear.

    The English version is shown.

  1. This screen explains the update. This screen contains information about what the update does. This screen also contains information on how to install the software. The information is first displayed in Swedish. The English version is the second language. Click "Next" when you are ready to proceed. The following screen will appear.

  1. At this point, you may type in your machine number or your machine information. When you are ready to proceed, click "Next".

    Note: This step is not required. You can choose to leave the box blank if you wish.

  1. This screen will inform you that the software is now ready to install onto your CABSWin computer. Click "Next". The software will begin to automatically install.

  1. This screen will show the progress of the installation. Wait for the installation to complete. When the installation is finished, the following screen will momentarily appear.

  1. This screen will be displayed for a short amount of time. The CABSWin computer is being updated. In a few moments, the following screen should appear.

  1. Click "Finish" in order to complete the installation.

  1. This screen will ask you if you want to restart the CABSWin computer. Click "Cancel". Proceed to ""CABSWin D4 Machine Installation Procedure" ". If you wish to stop the installation, you can click "Ok". This will restart the CABSWin computer.

Note: When the CABSWin login screen appears, click "Cancel".

  1. Open Windows® Explorer by pressing the "Windows" symbol key and the "E" key at the same time. Double click on the file that is labeled "D4ma1d.exe"The following screen will appear.

  1. This screen contains the license agreement for the software. Read the license agreement and click "Next". The following screen will appear.

    Note: You may click "Back" at any time during the installation of the software in order to make a correction.

  1. This screen displays the current machine software version. Ensure that all of the information is correct. Click "Next". The following screen will appear.

  1. At this screen, the computer will ask you what you wish to do with the software. You have three options. For a new machine software installation, select "Complete Install". Next, click "Next". The options are the following:

    Complete Installation - Choose the Complete Installation in order to update the entire machine software. You must check this option if this is a new installation.

    Partial Installation - Choose Partial Installation if you wish to only update the machine data software with a new version. You must choose this option if you have an existing version of the D4 Machine software already installed on the CABSWin computer.

    Change Harvester Head - Choose this option if you wish to only change the harvester head software that is currently on the CABSWin computer.

  1. This screen will ask you which harvester head that you wish to install. Select the appropriate head from the list by clicking to the left of the model number. The following screen will appear.

  1. This screen confirms your selections that you previously made. If the information is correct, click "Next". The following screen will appear.

  1. This screen will show the progress of the installation. Wait for the installation to complete. When the installation is finished, the following screen will appear.

  1. This screen will confirm that the machine software installation was successful. Click "Finish". This will complete the installation.

  1. This screen will prompt you to restart the CABSWin computer. Click "Ok". The computer will automatically restart.

    Note: You may remove the memory card from the CABSWin computer at this time.

Update the CU module

  1. At the login screen, click "Cancel". You do not need to login to CABSWin at this time. Click the arrow at the top left of the monitor.

  1. You will see a pull down menu appear. Highlight "Update CU". Click on "Update CU" in order to update the CU module. The following screen will appear.

  1. You must first select the proper file for your application. Click "Select file".

    Note: There are two generations of the CABSWin software. The screen will inform you of which version that you have on your machine.

  1. For first generation machines, you must select the file "Esec2_16.bin". For second generation machines, you must select the file "Esec1005.bin". You only need to select one file. Click "Open" when you have selected the proper file for your machine. You will be returned to the main CU update screen.

  1. Ensure that the proper file has been selected. Click "Update Main Program". The following screen will appear.

  1. The system is now being updated. When the update has completed, you will be returned to the main CU update screen.

  1. When Windows® shuts down, turn the battery disconnect switch on the machine to the OFF position. The battery disconnect switch is located at the back of the machine on the left side. This will completely shut down the computer.

  1. Turn the battery disconnect switch to the ON position. This will restart the computer.

  1. When the computer restarts, go to Windows® Explorer and open the "Dasa4" file folder at the bottom of the window.

  1. A total of four .exe files will appear.

  1. There are two files that must be loaded into the CABSWin software. The files are listed below:

    • "AgiFI4.exe"

    • "AgiFI7.exe"

    • "AgiSE4.exe"

    • "AgiSE7.exe"

    Note: The first two files with the "FI" designation are for Finland machines. The "SE" designation is intended for use with machines outside Finland.

  1. Click "AgiSE4.exe".

  1. A window will appear. Click "Unzip". The file will load into the CABSWin computer.

    Note: Ensure that the "C:" drive is the selected installation directory.

  1. Repeat Step 15 through 17 for the file that is labeled "AgiSE7.exe".

  1. You must install several folders that are in the "User" folder. The folders are saved on the "Backup (E:)" drive.

  1. Select the following folders: "Apt",, "Mvl", "Obj" and "ObjEnd".

  1. Right click on the folders while the folders are highlighted.

  1. From the pull down menu, click "Copy".

  1. Right click in the box. Select "Paste" from the pull down menu. The files will now be copied. You will be asked if you wish to replace the existing folders. Click "Yes to All". The folders will be replaced on your computer.

  1. When the folders have been moved, delete the old "User" folder in the "E:" drive.

  1. Exit CABSWin.

  1. When Windows® shuts down, turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.

  1. The battery disconnect switch is located at the back of the machine on the left side. This will completely shut down the computer.

  1. Turn the battery disconnect switch to the ON position. This will restart the computer.

  1. At the CABSWin login screen, the user will be prompted to enter a password. The initial new password is 14.

  1. When CABSWin begins, you must select the "TGT" file and the "MAS" file for the respective machine.

    Reference: Systems Operation, RENR6128, "Operator".

  1. A default diameter setting resides on the operating system after the reinstall process. This setting is not exact, so a new diameter setup must be created.

    Note: Fine tuning of the machine must be performed in order to ensure proper performance of the machine.

    Reference: Testing and Adjusting, RENR4355, "Set Diameter Measuring".
