Tow only with farm tractor. Highway vehicles may not have adequate weight and brakes for control. Loss of control may result in personal injury or death. |
Make sure that the tractor is suitable for towing the implement.
Reference: Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual for the tractor that is towing the vehicle for additional information.
Transport Height
The depth adjustment for the TL5 Series Field Cultivators will affect the transport height and clearance. The depth adjustment controls the linkage that anchors the end of the hydraulic lift cylinders. If the depth adjustment is set at the deepest setting, the transport height will be reduced. likewise, if the depth adjustment is set at the shallowest setting, the transport height will be increased. Also, the depth adjustment will affect the clearance that is between the shanks and the ground.
Preparing for Transport
Check the condition of the following components before transporting an implement:
- Hydraulic hoses
- Tires
- Wheels
- Hubs
- Safety chain
- Drawbar pin
- Drawbar bolts
Repair damaged components.
- Raise the implement completely. Set the parking brake and stop the engine.

- Lock the wheel transport lock valve.
- Make sure that wheel transport lock valve (2) is in the LOCKED position, as shown. This will allow the implement to be raised but not lowered.
Note: Do not use the cylinder rod locks in place of the wheel transport lock valve. Cylinder rod locks should only be used for setup and maintenance.

- Fold the wings. Lock the wing transport lock valve (3), as shown.
- Make sure that safety chain (4) is connected between the implement and the tractor, as shown.
Note: Always use a safety chain with the tensile strength that is capable of withstanding the gross weight of the implement plus any attachments.

- Make sure that the reflectors and the slow moving vehicle sign are installed. Also, make sure that the reflectors and the slow moving vehicle sign are clean and visible.

- Make sure that red tail lamps (5), and the amber flashing lights (6) are operational.
- Remove all trash from the implement.
- Check the travel route for overhead clearance. Also, check the travel route for the proper width.
Reference: See Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Specifications" for the dimensions of the implement.
Contact with a power line or other obstruction can cause damage, serious bodily injury or death. Be aware of implement transport width and height. Rear attachments will add to transport height and to transport width on some implements. See Operator Manual. |
When you transport the implement, observe the following guidelines:
- When you drive roading speed, turn the machine slowly.
- Do not exceed 24 km/h (15 mph) when you are roading the implement.
