Bystanders can become trapped between the machine and the implement when the operator is backing the machine to connect to an implement, causing personal injury or death. Make sure that the surrounding area is free of any personnel before maneuvering to connect an implement. |
Sudden movement of the machine or the three-point hitch while connecting or disconnecting the implement, the implement hydraulics, or the implement electrical components can cause personal injury or death. Always lower the implement to the ground, set the parking brake and stop the engine on the tractor before entering the three-point hitch linkage area to connect the equipment. |
- If the wings are in the UP position, make sure that wing transport lock valve (1) is in the LOCKED position, as shown.

- Make sure that wheel transport lock valve (2) is in the LOCKED position, as shown.
- Check the implement in order to determine if a jack stand is used on the rear of the implement. If attachments have been added to the implement and the attachments cause the implement to be heavy on the back side, a jack must be used on the back side. If the implement is balanced, a jack should be used on the front and rear of the implement in order to prevent the implement from tipping.
Unit May be Tail-Heavy The tongue may raise rapidly when unhitching from the tractor if the rear jack is not set in support position. A rear jack stand is required when heavy attachments are added to the back frame beam. Failure to heed this warning may result in serious bodily injury or death. |

- Make sure that pin (5) is installed under swivel hitch (4), as shown. The pin will keep the swivel hitch in a level position for positioning into the drawbar. The pin may be in the storage position. See Illustration 6 for the storage location of pin (5) .
Illustration 3 | g00809630 |
- Use jack stand (3) to raise the implement so that swivel hitch (4) is at the approximate height in order to engage the drawbar on the tractor.
Note: If a rear jack is used, adjust the rear jack stand in order to raise or lower the height of the tongue. If a front jack and a rear jack are used, you may need to adjust both jacks.
Illustration 4 | g00835328 |
- Position the tractor so that the swivel hitch begins to engage the drawbar of the tractor. Do not attempt to align the hole for the hitch pin while pin (5) is supporting swivel hitch (4) .
Note: If pin (5) is not removed the components of the hitch or the pin could be damaged.
Illustration 5 | g00818593 |
- Set the parking brake on the tractor and stop the engine.
- Remove pin (5) .
- Store pin (5) in the hole that is next to the storage location for the hydraulic hoses.
Illustration 6 | g00809636 |
- Use jack (3) to raise or lower the implement so that swivel hitch (4) is parallel to the drawbar.
- Position the tractor in order to align the hole in the swivel hitch with the hole in the drawbar.
- Set the parking brake on the tractor and stop the engine.
- Install pin (6) .

- Attach safety chain (7) to the tractor.
- Make sure that the drawbar is locked in the center position. Pins (8) are used to lock the drawbar in position for the tractor that is in illustration 7.
Reference: Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual for the tractor in order to lock the drawbar in the center position.
Note: During tillage, the drawbar should be unlocked and allowed to swing.
NOTICE |
---|
The drawbar must be locked in the center position during transportion of the implement. Failure to lock the drawbar in the center position during transportation could cause damage to the implement and/or the tractor. |
- Remove the retaining pin and rotate jack stand (3) to the storage position. If a rear jack is used, remove the rear jack and install the jack in the storage position. There is only one storage position. If more than one jack is used, one jack will need to be stored in a separate location from the implement.

- Attach hydraulic hoses (9) to the tractor. Use Table 1 in order to find the correct hoses for the required function. Grips (10) are color coded.
Note: Connect the hydraulic hoses to the tractor in order to raise the implement when the hydraulic implement control is moved toward the operator.

- Attach electrical connector (11) to the tractor, as shown.
- Unlock the wheel transport lock valve and raise the implement.
Note: The hydraulic cylinders may need to be purged before operation.
Reference: See Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic cylinders - Purge" for additional information in order to purge the hydraulic cylinders.
Note: The implement can be raised with the transport wheel lock valve in the locked position.
- Use the leveling turnbuckle (9) to level the implement from the front to the back.
Reference: See Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Implement Adjustments" for additional information.

- Inspect the implement before you tow the implement.
Reference: See the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Walk-Around Inspection".
Reference: See the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Transporting the Implement" for additional information when you road the implement.
NOTICE |
---|
Before moving the implement, make sure that the lower arms of the three-point hitch has been raised to the TOP position. This will prevent the swivel hitch and the tongue from being damaged when you turn the tractor. |
