NOTICE |
---|
Do not exceed the air pressure of 830 ± 35 kPa (120 ± 5 psi) or damage can occur to the air system components. |

When opening the drain valve, wear protective gloves, protective face shield, protective clothing and protective shoes. Pressurized air could cause debris to be blown and result in personal injury. |
Drain the air slowly at drain valve (1) for the service tank until the air pressure drops to 480 kPa (70 psi).
The VIMS will display system air pressure by entering "550" into the keypad and pressing the "GAUGE" key. This will display the system air pressure. After the test is concluded, press the "OK" key in order to reset the VIMS.
Start the engine and run the engine at high idle. Allow the air system pressure to reach 585 kPa (85 psi). Record the amount of time that is required for the air system pressure to increase from 585 kPa (85 psi) to 690 kPa (100 psi).
Air compressor (3) should build up pressure from 585 kPa (85 psi) to 690 kPa (100 psi) in 40 seconds or less. If the time that is measured is greater than 40 seconds, check for leaks and check for restrictions in the air system. If no leaks or restrictions are found in the air system, air compressor (3) may have a problem. Refer to Service Manual, SENR6455, "Air Compressors".
