Diagnostic Codes (Caterpillar Monitoring System)

Press switch (1) on the lower left side of the switch panel until the service codes are displayed. The service code will be shown in display window (2) when a diagnostic code has been detected.
There are three different types of service codes. The codes are identified on the following tables:
The Component Identifier (CID) is a diagnostic code which indicates the component or the system that is faulty.

The Fault Mode Indicator Code (FMI) is a diagnostic code which indicates the type of failure that has occurred.

Failure Mode Identifier (FMI)     | |
---|---|
Code Number     | Description     |
0     | The data is valid but the operational range is above normal.     |
1     | The data is valid but the operational range is below normal.     |
2     | The data is erratic, intermittent, or incorrect.     |
3     | The voltage is above normal or the circuit is shorted high.     |
4     | The voltage is below normal or the circuit is shorted low.     |
5     | The current is below normal or there is an open circuit.     |
6     | The current is above normal or there is a grounded circuit.     |
7     | A mechanical system is not responding properly.     |
8     | The frequency, the pulse width, or the period is abnormal.     |
9     | The update is abnormal.     |
10     | The rate of change is abnormal.     |
11     | The failure mode is not identifiable.     |
12     | A device or a component is faulty.     |
13     | Calibration is needed.     |
