With the introduction of new designs for asphalt mix in the asphalt paving industry, Caterpillar Paving Products Inc. has developed an Asphalt Deflector Kit. When the kit is used, this kit will reduce the possibility of discrepancies in the mat. The kit consists of two additional guards that extend the chain guards and the kit contains a deflector that is mounted to the front of the auger housing.
Note: For the 3 m (10 ft) pavers, either the upper guards, the lower deflector, or both may be used.
Note: For the 2.5 m (8 ft) pavers, either the upper guards or the lower deflector may be used. The upper guards and the lower deflector should not be used simultaneously. If both the guards and the deflector are used, interference will occur when the auger is fully raised.
