Assembly Procedure

1. Inspect all parts and clean all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement.

2. Apply clean oil on all of the parts of the torque converter relief valve. Install poppet (12) and spring (11) into spool (8).

3. Put retainer (10) into position in spool (8). Install spiral lock (9) in order to secure retainer (10) to spool (8).

4. Install spring (6) and the spacer into position in spool (8). Install spool (8) into body (13).

5. Install the O-ring seal onto cover (2). Install cover (2), bolts (5), and the washers onto the torque converter relief valve.

6. Install the O-ring seal onto cover (3). Install cover (3), bolts (4), and the washers onto the torque converter relief valve. Tighten bolts (4) and bolts (5) to a torque of 48 ± 7 N·m (35 ± 5 lb ft).

7. Install O-ring seals (1) onto the torque converter relief valve.
