( 1 ) | The indicator is turned ON for the lamp test when you crank the engine. |
( 2 ) | The action alarm only sounds when the transmission is not in neutral. |
( 3 ) | The action alarm emits a Chirp sound only. The sound is not a continuous sound. |

The machine monitor notifies the operator of an immediate problem or an impending problem with a machine system. Most alert indicators turn ON when the machine monitor receives a ground signal from a switch, a relay, or a control. The alert indicators for a left turn, a right turn, and the high beam indicators turn ON when a +battery signal is received.
The machine monitor has two classifications of warnings:
Alert indicator only - No action alarm sounds. The illumination of only an alert indicator means that one of the following normal changes in the operation of the machine has occurred:
- High beam headlamps are ON or a turn signal is ON. The alert indicator is either a green color or a blue color. The illumination of the alert indicator notifies the operator of the change in operation.
Action alarm with an alert indicator or gauge - The sounding of the action alarm notifies the operator that a severe problem exists and that the machine must be shut down in order to avoid engine damage. For example, one of the following problems would cause the action alarm to sound:
- High transmission oil temperature
- Low engine oil pressure
Also, whenever the action alarm sounds, either an alert indicator is illuminated or a gauge is in the red zone. The alert indicator or the gauge can identify the system with the problem. The alert indicators are either a red color or a yellow color.
Note: See the Warning Operation chart in Table 1. The chart identifies the operation of the alert indicators and the action alarm for each machine function.
