Calibration Mode

Usage:

D350E II 2XW
Calibration mode is mode 6. Calibration mode is used on some machines in order to perform special functions of calibration. The operation of the calibration mode will vary depending on the machine and the system that is being calibrated. The Service Manual Module for the controls that require the calibration mode should be used to determine the operation.

Submodes

This mode includes thirteen submodes in order to extend the diagnostic capabilities. After you have entered mode 6, use the service switch to scroll through the submodes.

Submode 6.1 (Shifting)

The position of the shift lever switch will be displayed on the left side of the display area. The position of the transmission gear switch will be shown on the right side of the display. The sixth digit will show "L", when the lockup clutch is engaged.

Illustration 7g00547511

Example Of Display Area

The cane has failed. The duty cycle of the sensor is 100.0%.

Submode 6.3 (Inputs Of The Transmission Gear Switch)

This mode displays the input signals of the transmission gear switch to the transmission/chassis ECM. The inputs to the transmission gear switch correspond with the following contacts on the transmission/chassis ECM: J1-39, J1-28, J1-29, J1-30, J1-31 and J1-55. A "0" will be displayed when an input is grounded. A "1" will be displayed when the input is open. Two of the five wires for the gears will be grounded in a normal position of the transmission gear. Contact 55 should always be grounded. A "0" should always be displayed in the first digit. When the transmission gear switch and the harness are functioning properly, three "0" and three "1" should be displayed for each gear.

Submode 6.5 (Hoist Lever)

This mode displays the input of the hoist lever sensor to the transmission/chassis ECM or the output of the hoist lever sensor to the transmission/chassis ECM. The input and the output can be different. This will depend on the hoist lever strategy. When the machine is started with the hoist lever in the FLOAT position, the input is different from the output. The hoist lever strategy will keep the body in the HOLD position until the lever is cycled from the FLOAT position to the HOLD position and back to the FLOAT position. Therefore, the input can be at the FLOAT position and the output will be at the HOLD position.

In order to change the display from the input to the output, press the operator switch. The second digit will be a "L" when the display is showing the input. The second digit will be an "O" when the display is showing the output.

Submode 6.10 (Transmission Calibration)

This mode allows the service person to perform the transmission calibration. When this mode is entered, the service person is intending to start the transmission calibration. When the service person holds down the "C" switch input for 2.0 seconds the ECM will start the calibration. When the calibration starts, the leading characters "tc" will flash and the calibration will start.

If the conditions are not correct, or if the calibration results in an error condition, the display will show a reason for the problem. The following is the list for this calibration:

  • "E01" Active Diagnostic

  • "E04" Shift Lever Not In Neutral

  • "E05" Engine Speed Incorrect

  • "E07" Service Brake Engaged

  • "E08" Park Brake Not Engaged

  • "E10" Transmission Output Speed Too High

  • "E11" Transmission Oil Temperature Below Limit

  • "E12" Transmission Oil Temperature Above Limit

Submode 6.11 (Retarder Calibration)

This mode allows the service person to perform the retarder calibration. When this mode is entered, the service person is intending to start the retarder calibration. When the service person holds down the "C" switch input for 2.0 seconds the ECM will start the calibration. When the calibration starts, the leading characters "rc" will flash, and the calibration will start.

If the conditions are not correct, or if the calibration results in an error condition, the display will show a reason for the problem. The following is the list for this calibration:

  • "E01" Active Diagnostic

  • "E04" Shift Lever Not In Neutral

  • "E07" Service Brake Engaged

  • "E08" Park Brake Not Engaged

Submode 6.12 (Transmission Stall Service Test)

This mode allows the service person to perform the transmission stall test. When this mode is entered, the service person is intending to start the service test. When the service test starts, the leading characters "sc" will flash and the service test will start.

While the service test is active, the ECM will override the transmission gear to the top gear of the machine. The override will stay active until a setup condition is no longer met, or the gear has been overridden for 15.0 seconds.

The service person should fully depress the throttle and observe the stall engine speed. This will give a measure of the performance of the engine.

If the conditions are not correct, or if the service test results in an error condition, the display will show a reason for the problem. The following is the list for this service test:

  • "E02" Incorrect Throttle Position

  • "E03" Test Timed Out

  • "E04" Shift Lever Not In Neutral

  • "E06" Service Brake Not Engaged

  • "E08" Park Brake Not Engaged

  • "E09" Torque Converter Output Speed Too High

  • "E10" Transmission Output Speed Too High

  • "E99" Undefined Error

If there is no error condition, then the display will show the value of the engine output speed.
