Installation Procedure


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Inspect all parts and clean all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement.

  2. Attach a suitable nylon lifting strap to the suspension cylinder. Position the cylinder to the mounting brackets. The weight of the cylinder is 68 kg (150 lb).

  3. Install the retention pin in order to secure cylinder (1) in mounting bracket (12). Install nut (13), bolt (11), the washers and special washer (9) that secures the retention pin in mounting bracket (12). Connect grease line (10) to special washer (9).

  4. Install the O-ring seal to hose (7). Connect hydraulic hose (7) to fitting (8).

  5. Install the retention pin in order to secure cylinder (1) in mounting bracket (2). Install nut (4), bolt (5), the washers and special washer (3) that secures the retention pin in mounting bracket (2). Connect grease line (6) to special washer (3).

  6. Install the suspension cylinder on the other side of the machine by using the same method.

  7. Check the fluid level in the hydraulic system and add any oil that is required. See Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7028 for the correct procedure.

End By:

  1. Install the Fenders. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fender - Remove and Install". The information is in this manual.

  2. Install the front tires and rims. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Tire and Rim - Remove and Install". See Operation and Maintenance Manual, SENR9128 for the correct procedure.
