Adjustment Procedure For The End Play

  1. Put 4C-5592 Anti-Seize Compound on the threads and the taper of king bolt (7). Put 4C-5592 Anti-Seize Compound on the face of nut (4) and the taper in support assembly (8) .

  1. Put 6V-4876 Lubricant on the spherical surface of king bolt (7) .

  1. Install cap (6) on king bolt (7). Install king bolt (7) into support assembly (8) .

  1. Install nut (4). Tighten nut (4) to a torque of 2600 ± 260 N·m (1918 ± 192 lb ft). Stake the threads on the king bolt (7) with a punch.

  1. Install four bolts (5) at even spaces around cap (6). Install socket (2) on bolts (5). Do not install shims (3) .

  1. Put nuts (1) on bolts (5). Tighten the nuts evenly until there is a small restriction to movement of cap (6) and socket (2) on king bolt (7) .

  1. Use a feeler gauge to measure the distance between socket (2) and cap (6) at each bolt (5) .

  1. Add 0.025 to 0.15 mm (0.0010 to 0.006 inch) to the distance that was found in Step 7. This is the shim pack thickness. Install shims (3) in order to achieve the correct shim pack thickness.

Note: Use a minimum of six 5D-4363 Shims in the shim pack. As needed, use 5D-1499 Shims and 5D-1500 Shims .

  1. Remove the nuts (1), socket (2), and bolts (5) .

  1. Install shims (3). Install socket (2) to cap (6). Install bolts (5) .

  1. Tighten the eight bolts (5) to 550 ± 20 N·m (405 ± 15 lb ft).
