Note: For instruction on reusability, refer to Guideline For Reusable Track Parts, SEBF8558, "Sealed And Lubricated Track" .
Note: For repair procedures for track links with positive pin retention, refer to Undercarriage Reconditioning Bulletin, SEBF8546 .
Maximum track press assembly force ... 660 kN (148500 lb)
Track press setting force ... 520 kN (115000 lb)
Track press force for installing the retaining ring ... 845 kN (190000 lb)
Track press force for unlocking positive pin retention ... 1200 kN (270000 lb)
(1) Torque for bolts that hold the half links together ... 650 ± 70 N·m (480 ± 50 lb ft)
Then turn the bolts by another 120 degrees.
Put 5P-3931 Anti-Seize Compound on the threads, the body of the bolt, and the washer face of each bolt before installation.
(2) Torque for bolts that hold the track shoe to the link ... 650 ± 70 N·m (480 ± 50 lb ft)
Then, turn the bolts by another 120 degrees.
Put SAE 30W oil on the threads, the body and the washer face of each bolt before installation.
Note: Install the nuts so that the radii on the corner of the nut is against the link.
(3) Height of a new grouser ... 78.0 ± 1.5 mm (3.0709 ± 0.0591 inch)
Height of 100 percent worn grouser under little shock load or no shock load ... 25.4 mm (1.00 inch)
Height of 100 percent worn grouser under average or heavy shock load ... 38.1 mm (1.50 inch)
(4) Height of a new link ... 150 ± 0.25 mm (5.906 ± 0.010 inch)
Height of 100 percent worn link under little shock load or no shock load ... 133.6 mm (5.26 inch)
Height of 100 percent worn link under average or heavy shock load ... 137.7 mm (5.42 inch)
(5) Distance from the center of one pin to the center of the next pin (pitch) ... 215.90 ± 0.13 mm (8.500 ± .005 inch)
(6) Distance from the face of the link to the end of the bushing ... 1.76 ± 0.13 mm (0.069 ± 0.005 inch)
(7) Thickness of a new thrust ring ... 10.70 ± 0.08 mm (0.421 ± 0.003 inch)
(8) Bushings
- Diameter of a new bushing ... 79.16 ± .25 mm (3.117 ± 0.010 inch)
-
The minimum diameter of the bushing before the bushing is turned:
- Operations under little shock load or no shock load ... 69.0 mm (2.72 inch)
- Operations under average or heavy shock load ... 71.5 mm (2.82 inch)
(9) Permissible end play ... 0 to 0.20 mm (0 to .008 inch)
(10) Minimum protrusion of the pin from the counterbore ... 2.00 ± 0.13 mm (0.079 ± 0.005 inch)
Track Adjustment
Illustration 3 | g00515258 |
Stretch a string over the grousers between the sprocket and the front track idler. Measure the distance from the string to the top of the grouser at the maximum measurement.
The track sag is correct when the sum of dimensions (1) and (2) equals 90 ± 10 mm (3.5 ± 0.4 inch) .
