Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
Personal injury can result from hot oil or hot components. At operating temperature, oil is hot and under pressure. Hot oil can cause burns. Remove the fill cap only when the engine is stopped, and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin. |

- Use the hydraulic system of the truck to retract hoist cylinder (1) enough to clear the mounting bracket of the truck body.
- Drain the hydraulic oil from the hydraulic tank into a suitable container. The capacity of the hydraulic tank is
420 L (111 US gal) . Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7173, "Hoist, Torque Converter and Brake Tank Oil - Change" for the correct procedure.Show/hide tableIllustration 4 g00511322 Show/hide tableIllustration 5 g00511323 - Disconnect hose assemblies (7) and (8). Disconnect hose assembly (9).
Note: The left hoist cylinder and the right hoist cylinder are identical, but the left hoist cylinder may be equipped with two quick couplers. The quick couplers are used to dump a load if the truck is disabled.
