Disassembly Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the transmission hydraulic control valve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Transmission Hydraulic Control Valve - Remove and Install". The information is in this manual.

  1. Remove two O-ring seals (1) , O-ring seal (2) and tube (3) from transmission cover (4) .

  1. Remove governor assembly (5) and O-ring seal (6) from transmission housing (7) .

  1. Attach Tooling (A) and a hoist to transmission housing (7) . Remove three bolts (8) and remove transmission housing (7) from transmission assembly (9) . The transmission housing weighs approximately 100 kg (220 lb).

  1. Turn over the transmission assembly. Remove two O-ring seals (10) and two O-ring seals (11) from manifold assembly (12) .

  1. Remove ten bolts (13) and the washers from clutch housing (14) .

  1. Use Tooling (B) in order to hold the piston into clutch housing (14) . Use two persons in order to remove clutch housing (14) from transmission assembly (9) . The clutch housing weighs approximately 28 kg (61 lb).

  1. Remove five dowels (18) , ten springs (19) , five friction discs (20) and four clutch plates (21) from transmission assembly (9) .

  1. Use Tooling (C) to remove retaining ring (24) from output shaft (25) . Remove carrier (23) from transmission assembly (9) .

  1. Use a hammer and a punch in order to remove the four pins from carrier (23) . Remove four shafts (28) , four gear assemblies (29) and eight washers (30) from carrier (23) . Remove the pins from four shafts (28) .

  1. Install Tooling (A) and a hoist to clutch housing (71) . Use Tooling (C) in order to hold piston (81) to clutch housing (71) . Remove two bolts (82) and clutch housing (71) from plate (83) . The clutch housing weighs approximately 25 kg (55 lb) .

  1. Install Tooling (A) and a hoist in order to remove carrier assembly (74) from clutch housing (90) . The carrier assembly weighs approximately 41 kg (90 lb) .

  1. Place blocks under carrier assembly (74) . The blocks will allow gear (94) to be removed from carrier assembly (74) . Use two pin assemblies (95) with a diameter of 3.175 mm (.125 inch) in order to compress the retaining ring. The gear will fall from the carrier assembly.

  1. Use a hammer and a punch in order to push pins (96) into shafts (97) . Remove four shafts (97) , sixteen washers (98) , four gears (99) and four gears (100) from carrier assembly (74) .

    Note: Remove pins (96) from shafts (97) .

  1. Remove bearing (101) from gear (100) . Remove two bearings (102) from gear (99) .

  1. Use a hammer and a punch in order to push pins (103) into shafts (104) . Remove four shafts (104) , eight washers (105) and four gears (106) from carrier (74) . Remove pins (103) from shafts (104) .
