------ WARNING! ------

Steering clutch and brake control linkage adjustments should be made only with the engine OFF. Accidental disengagement of the parking brake while the engine is running could cause sudden machine movement and personal injury.

----------------------

Torque for all 3/8 locknuts (jam nuts) that hold the rod ends in place on the rod ... 14 ± 4 N·m (10 ± 3 lb ft)

Note: All rod assembly measurements must be made in a straight line between the centerlines of the rod end mounting holes.

(6) Assembled length of rod assembly ... 266.0 ± 1.5 mm (10.47 ± 0.06 inch)

(9) Assembled length of rod assembly ... 441.0 ± 1.0 mm (17.36 ± 0.04 inch)

(14) Torque for four bolts ... 47 ± 4 N·m (35 ± 3 lb ft)

Procedure for Adjustment of Steering Clutch and Brake Linkage

  1. Install rod assembly (6) after the rod has been adjusted to the correct length.

  1. See callout (3) of Illustration 1. As needed, adjust rods (10) and (11) so that there is a clearance between clutch levers (1) and (2) and the opening in the platform. Use the following clearance of 7 ± 1 mm (0.275 ± 0.04 inch) .

  1. Adjust the bumpers (4) to a clearance of 1.0 + 1.0 - 0.5 mm (0.04 + 0.04 - 0.02 inch) .

Procedure for Adjustment of Brake Pedal Linkage

  1. Assemble brake pedal (5) on the shaft. The front edge of the tread plate should be 146 mm (5.75 inch) (dimension (B) ) from the floorplate. Align the timing mark on the shaft with the centerline of the slot in the pedal. Moving down one tooth on the spline gives dimension (B) .

  1. Install rod assembly (9) after the rod has been adjusted to the correct length.

  1. Disconnect rod assembly (13) from lever (12) .

  1. Rotate lever (12) counterclockwise until resistance is felt.

  1. Adjust the length of rod assembly (13) in order to obtain a free fit in lever (12) .

  1. Depress the brake pedal until lever (12) stops.

  1. While the brake pedal is depressed fully, Adjust bolt (7) so that the head of the bolt contacts the brake pedal.

  1. Release the brake pedal and turn bolt (7) outward for an additional 1/2 turn. Tighten locknut (8) .

Note: To bring the pedal closer to the operator, align the timing mark with the centerline of the slot in the pedal. This position will give dimension (B) of 176 mm (6.9 inch) .
