Hydraulic Tank Screen - Clean

NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Park the machine on a level surface. Ensure that the parking brake is fully engaged. Lower the dump body and stop the engine.

  1. Remove hydraulic tank cover (1) .

  1. Remove the padlock and filler cap cover (2). Remove the filler cap slowly in order to relieve the pressure.

  1. Unscrew bolt (3) and remove the screen assembly.

  1. Remove the following items: cotter pin and washer (4), screen (5) and hydraulic filter elements (6) .

  1. Wash the screen in clean, nonflammable solvent and check for damage. If necessary, replace the screen.

  1. Assemble and install the screen and hydraulic filter elements. If necessary, replace the O-ring seal (7) .

  1. Install cotter pin and washer (4) .

  1. Install the filler cap. Install the filler cap cover and the padlock.

  1. Install the hydraulic tank cover.

  1. Clean up spilled oil.
