Troubleshooting Service Codes

Usage:

24H 7KK
Use the Caterpillar Monitoring System or the Caterpillar Electronic Technician in order to determine the service codes for the power train ECM. After determining the service codes, refer to the corresponding test procedure for more information. Perform the procedure that corresponds to the service code (CID and FMI). The following table is a list of possible service codes for the ECM.

( 1 ) For the Transmission ECM, the MID is 081. This table pertains only to faults with a MID of 081.

Note: The preceding table applies only to the service codes for the Transmission Electronic Control System. When the Caterpillar Monitoring System is in service mode, the service codes for the ECM are shown on the display area of the Caterpillar Monitoring System. The information of the service code for the ECM is transferred via the CAT data link to the Caterpillar Monitoring System. This diagnostic information is shown when the Caterpillar Monitoring System is in the service mode. The module identifier (MID) tells the service person which ECM is sending the service code. The MID for the hydrostatic transmission ECM is 081. This Service Manual Module applies only to service codes with a MID of 081. The MID code of other electronic control modules on a particular machine (Caterpillar Monitoring System, implement, etc.) are listed on the Electrical System Schematic. Troubleshooting information for those service codes (MID is not 081), can be found in the service manual for that system.
