CID 0269 FMI 01 Sensor Power Supply Below Normal Range - Test

Usage:

D350E II 2XW
This diagnostic code is recorded when the power train ECM reads the voltage of the sensor supply circuit (wire 709-OR) as below normal range.

This diagnostic code causes the transmission to not upshift higher than first gear.

The possible causes of this diagnostic code are listed:

  • Wire 709-OR is shorted to ground between the transmission output speed sensor (TOS) and the ECM.

  • The transmission output speed sensor is faulty.

  • The ECM is faulty. This is unlikely.

Note: Ensure that the CID 0269 FMI 01 is on-hold. Ensure that the "SERV CODE" indicator is illuminated.

Note: Test "CHECK THE SENSOR." can create a CID 0701 FMI F02. When all harnesses are reconnected this diagnostic code is shown as being not present. Clear the CID 0701 FMI F02 after this procedure is completed.

  1. CHECK THE SENSOR.

    1. Ensure that the CID 0269 FMI F01 is on-hold and that the "SERV CODE" indicator is illuminated.

    1. Observe the status of the "SERV CODE" indicator.

    1. Disconnect the machine harness from the speed sensor at the transmission.

Expected Result: The diagnostic code remains present.

      Results:

      • YES - The diagnostic code remains present. The "SERV CODE" indicator is NO longer illuminated. The sensor is not causing the diagnostic code. Proceed to 2.

      • NO - The diagnostic code is NO longer present. The "SERV CODE" indicator remains illuminated. The sensor is faulty. Replace the speed sensor. See Testing And Adjusting, "Speed Sensor (Transmission Output) - Replace". STOP.

  1. CHECK FOR A SHORT TO GROUND.

    1. The sensor remains disconnected from the machine harness.

    1. Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the OFF position.

    1. Disconnect the machine harness connectors J1 and J2 from the power train ECM.

    1. At the machine harness connector for the Power Train ECM, measure the resistance between contact J2-15 (wire 709-OR) and frame ground.

Expected Result: The resistance measurement is greater than 5000 ohms.

      Results:

      • YES - The resistance measurement is greater than 5000 ohms. The harness is correct. It is unlikely that the ECM is faulty. Exit this procedure and perform this diagnostic code again. If the cause of the diagnostic code is not found, replace the ECM. See Testing And Adjusting, "Electronic Control Module (ECM) - Replace". STOP.

      • NO - The resistance is less than 5000 ohms. The machine harness is faulty. There is a short between frame ground and wire (709-OR) in the machine harness. Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness. STOP.
