Turbocharger - Install

Usage:

769D 5SS

Installation Procedure

  1. Verify that all of the components of the turbocharger are clean and free of foreign material prior to installation.

  2. Inspect all components for wear and replace the components, if necessary.

  3. If necessary, replace sealing rings (18) on exhaust coupling (19). Install exhaust coupling (19) in adapter (7).

  4. Inspect the condition of O-ring seals (20) on air pipe (16). Replace O-ring seals (20), if necessary.

  5. Position turbocharger (6), and new gasket (17), as shown. Slide turbocharger (6) onto air pipe (16). Install adapter (7) onto turbocharger (6).

  6. Apply 5P-3931 Anti-Seize Compound on the threads of new high temperature bolts (13). Install four new high temperature bolts (13) and the locknuts. Tighten the locknuts to a torque of 55 ± 5 N·m (41 ± 4 lb ft).

  7. Position oil tube assembly (14) and the O-ring seal, as shown. Install two bolts (15) into the oil tube assembly (14).

    Note: High temperature bolts (8) must be replaced. Do not reuse the former high temperature bolts for assembly.

  8. Apply 5P-3931 Anti-Seize Compound onto the threads of high temperature bolts (8). Install four high temperature bolts (8) and the locknuts. Bolts (8) and the locknuts hold adapter (7) to support assembly (11).

  9. Position oil drain tube assembly (10) and the O-ring seal, as shown. The O-ring seal is located between oil drain tube assembly (10) and turbocharger (6). Install two bolts (9).

  10. Install tube assembly (3) and rubber elbow (2). Tighten four hose clamps (1).

  11. Connect wire harness (4) at the electrical connector.

  12. Install new tie strap (5).

  13. Close the front and rear hood assemblies.

End By:

  1. Remove the retaining ring and the pin. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, SENR1561, "Retaining Ring and Pin (Body) - Remove and Install".
