Oil Cooler (Hoist and Rear Brake) - Remove

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the oil cooler (power train). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Oil Cooler (Power Train) - Remove".


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, PERJ1017, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Plug and cap all connections in order to prevent contamination.

  2. Remove oil tube assembly (1), the gasket and the O-ring seal. Secure a lifting sling to the hoist and rear brake oil cooler. Fasten the lifting sling to a hoist.

  3. Remove four bolts (4) and the hard washers. Remove O-ring seal (3) (not shown) and elbow (5) from hoist and rear brake oil cooler (2).

  4. Disconnect hose assembly (6), adapter (7) and the O-ring seal from hoist and rear brake oil cooler (2).

  5. Remove six bolts (8) from the bonnet. Remove hoist and rear brake oil cooler (2), and gasket (9) from the engine. The weight of the hoist and rear brake oil cooler (2) is 50 kg (112 lb).
