Differential and Final Drive Oil Sample - Obtain
Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "S·O·S Oil Analysis".
Note: Use a sampling gun for obtaining the oil samples.
- Park the machine on level ground. Slowly move the machine until "Oil Level" mark (1) on the front right final drive is horizontal. Ensure that the parking brake is fully engaged. Stop the engine.

- Wipe the area around plug (2) on the final drive before you remove the plug.
- Obtain an oil sample through the plug hole in the final drive.
- Clean the plug and inspect the O-ring seal for damage. Lubricate the O-ring seal with gear oil and install the plug.
Note: The plug is magnetic. Check the plug for ferrous particles that may indicate wear of the differential and final drive components.
- Start the engine.
- Repeat Steps 1 through 4 for the front left final drive.
- Wipe the area around plug (3) on the front axle housing before you remove the plug. Obtain an oil sample through the plug hole in the front axle housing.

- Clean the plug and inspect the O-ring seal for damage. Lubricate the O-ring seal with gear oil and install the plug.
Note: The plug is magnetic. Check the plug for ferrous particles that may indicate wear of the differential and final drive components.
- Start the engine.
- Repeat this procedure in order to obtain oil samples for the remaining axles.
