Removal Procedure
Start By:
- Install the truck body retaining cable. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Truck Body Retaining Cable - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
- Remove the compartment cover at the rear of the cab. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Cover (Cab Rear) - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
The space between the body and the frame becomes a zero clearance area when the body is lowered. Failure to install the retaining cable can result in injury or death to personnel working in this area. |
- Remove nut (1). Remove the electrical connections.

- Remove nut (4). Remove the electrical connections.
Note: Before any electrical connections are removed, identify the electrical connections for assembly purposes.
- Remove two nuts (6) from the switch. Remove the electrical connections.
- Remove two bolts (2) and two washers (3) .
- Remove relay assembly (5) .
Installation Procedure
- Install relay assembly (5) .

- Install two washers (3) and two bolts (2) .
Note: When two bolts (2) are installed, tighten the bolts to a torque of 12 ± 3 N·m (106.2 ± 26.5 lb in).
- Install the electrical connections. Install two nuts (6) on the switch.
Note: When two nuts (6) are installed, tighten the nuts to a torque of 2 ± .25 N·m (17.70 ± 2.21 lb in).
- Install the electrical connections. Install nut (4) .
Note: When nut (4) is installed, tighten the nut to a torque of 6 ± .5 N·m (53.11 ± 4.43 lb in).
- Install the electrical connections. Install nut (1) .
Note: When nut (1) is installed, tighten the nut to a torque of 6 ± .5 N·m (53.11 ± 4.43 lb in).
End By:
- Install the compartment cover at the rear of the cab. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Cover (Cab Rear) - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
- Disconnect the truck body retaining cable. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Truck Body Retaining Cable - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
