Problem:
There are four holes for lubrication in the 8E-8165 Planet Shaft that is part of the 8E-8166 Shaft Assembly. The outer two lubrication holes, which have chamfers, provide oil to either side of the 8E-8164 Thrust Discs. The thrust disc may wear the "Inside Diameter " and become loose on the planet shaft. The wear occurs due to a sharp 'burr' on the lubrication hole chamfer.
If the wear becomes extensive, the thrust disc will contact the ring gear, bind and break up into small pieces.
EFFECTED PRODUCT:
The 8E-8166 Shaft Assembly is used in the Off-Highway Trucks that are listed above. The possible effected units are 793C Off-Highway Trucks with the Transmission Serial Number range (4GX960-4GX1001). If failures occur to any transmissions with the serial number prefix of (4GX), send the following information to the address below: transmission serial number, number of hours operated and a photo of the worn 8E-8166 Thrust Disc.
